Sydney

During our first several days we journeyed about the Sydney area and first of all enjoyed the sights and sounds near Circular Quay.  At the Quay you will find many large ferries to a large number of locations within Sydney Harbor.  The Quay is also where the Sydney opera house is located.

Our first outing was a ferry to Manley from the Quay.  On the way to Manley we saw a capsized yacht Spirit, a former America’s Cup contender.

Mike and Janet lived near Bondi Beach where Mike also loved to go swimming.  One day was spent on the Bondi art walk–Sculpture by the Sea.  I took a number of photos reflecting the artwork displayed on the walk. Another walk near the Quay was to Victoria Park; another walk involved swimming in one of the coves in Sydney.  Still another adventure was to the Taronga Zoo.

We took two trips out of Sydney.  The trip to Sussex Inlet, and the trip to Cairns.  We returned to Sydney after each outing.  So many things to do and even a month is not enough time.  I keep emphasizing the “month” idea because on one of our ventures–the Mail Run, where we took a small boat up a river to deliver the mail; one young lady that we met and visited with relayed to us her opinion of the crazy fu—-g Americans that come to Australia for a only a week or two and then go back home.  I did tell her that not all Americans come for only one or two weeks, but maybe we were still a bit crazy!!

We enjoyed the wonderful weather just prior to Thanksgiving.
