A group of teachers and friends from Newark Memorial High School decided to go to Machu Picchu in 2001. Our first stop was Lima where we observed a country that was heavily guarded. For example, this was before 9/11 and around every corner of the airport was a machine gun enclosure. In the streets were tanks and military personnel carrying machine guns. The homes of the wealthy had armed guards posted in front of the houses. The cuisine of the country was good, but I was not interested in the guinea pig on the menu. I wish that I could have taken more photos, but this video will give a quick rundown of what we saw. The Museum of gold—Museo Oro del Peru was amazing, but no photos were allowed.
